The Parcel 'Hit Refresh Edit' by Girlfriend

So if you haven't heard, Girlfriend and Marie Claire both have their own beauty subscription box called 'The Parcel'
The Parcel Quarterly Subscription Beauty Box Girlfriend

I picked up the Girlfriend 'Hit Refresh' Edition which is now sold out.

This is my very first 'subscription' box and it did not disappoint! I was tossing up between the Marie Claire and the Girlfriend one. I'm not in the age deomgraphic that still reads Girlfriend, but I'm not in the demographic that needs/or can afford age care sort of stuff (though I guess there's not harm in starting early!) and the Marie Claire one was a bit more expensive ($29.95 for a single), so I chose this one.

Anywho, for $19.95 you get a selection of goodies chosen by the beauty editor of those magazines straight to your door. It's a bit more expensive then other Australian beauty boxes like Bellabox, Lust have it etc. But so far, it seems worth while! It's a quartely box. When you first order it (I ordered a one off box), they send you this survey. I'm not sure if the survey results were actually used to help personalise your box because there were a few random questions.

The ordering process was pretty straightforward and without any fuss. I think it took around 7 business days to arrive.

Without further ado, let's get to the products

What's in the box? Contents of The Parcel by Girlfriend - Hit Refresh Edition 2015
What's in the box? T-B, L-R: Veet Hair Removal Cream for Sensitive Skin, L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara, Dermalogica Clear Start Overnight & Daytime Treatments, Maybelline Color Show Bleached Neon Nail Polishes, Rimmel 9-1 BB Cream & Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cleanser

L'Oreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara - Full Size - $21.95
The price of the box has already been covered with this item, woo hoo. Apparently there were a few different colours you could receive, but I received a very usable 'all black' shade. I'm excited to try this, apparently it has a collagen infused formula which sounds fancy af, but I have a few mascaras to get through first:( #fwp

Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cream Cleanser 'Complexion Cleanser'  145mL $9.95
This also sounds pretty fancy! The first ingredient is Zeolite, "a unique mineral clay that warms up on contact with water to target pore-clogging dirt, oil and make-up".  I don't really suffer from blackheads, but I could always do with "deeper cleansing" and "clearer skin", so I'm keen to give it a try! I also want out to test out the whole heating thing, so a review will be up soon!

Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Polish - Bleached Neon x 2 $5.95 each
I received the shades Sun Flare #241 (left) Coral Heat #242 (right). Would be fun colours for summer or spring!

Rimmel London BB Cream 9 - 1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup $10
One of the first "BB Creams" to be released in Australia! It claims to prime, moisturise, minimise pores, conceal, cover, smoothe, mattifie, brighten and help protect. That's a lot of claims. I received the shade medium & it seems very very peachy even a little orange, so this will be interesting.

Veet Hair Removal Cream - Sensitive Skin - Aloe Vera and Vitamin E - Leg & Body - $8.49
I do use depillatory creams but most of the sensitive formulas take forever to work on me. I'll still use it though, so still a plus in my book

Dermalogica ClearStart Overnight Treatment & Dermalogica Clear Start Daytime Treatment - (15mL)
From Dermalogica's line aimed at teens and young Adults. The overnight treatment claims to ensure you awake with less congestion, fewer breakouts and reduced redness and the daytime treatment claims to moisturise while preventing breakouts. Sounds good to me!

Bonus Item: A 2 for 1 offer to see 'Insurgent' at Hoyts, where you could buy 1 adult ticket ($20) and get another ticket for free.

There was also a chance to receive a Summer Bay Golden Ticket. Neighbours is better

So what was the value of the box?
L'Oreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara          $21.95
Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cream Cleanser                 9.95
Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Polish x 2             11.90
Rimmel London BB Cream                                              10.00
Veet Hair Removal Cream                                                 8.49
Dermalogica Samples                                                        6.50*
Total (Approx)                                                                 68.79

Not bad at all, considering that I would use all the items! Did you get this box? What did you think? I'm super excited to see what's in the next one, but it doesn't come out til June! zzz

*The clear start trial set which contains the Foaming Wash 50ml,  Daytime Treatment 15ml and Overnight Treatment 15ml  retails at $30. The foaming wash by itself (albeit at 150mL) costs 23.50. So the 15mL samples at the very least are worth $6.50

  1. That was a good review of the parcel and the products. I have also started a subscription box service for my online lifestyle and fashion store. It’s selling much better than I expected and I hope the customers will be satisfied with the parcel. I want the packages to be delivered in good condition so I’ve hired the reliable Delivery services Fort Worth.
